In addition to conceiving the new Union Square Cafe, Rockwell Group designed Daily Provisions, an all-day coffee and sandwich shop located in the tiny alcove next door. Giving a nod to its Irving Place neighbors, Daily Provisions evokes the feeling of an intimate boîte, serving as an extension of guests’ homes or offices.
The restaurant is wrapped in wood millwork painted entirely in blue, with brass, wood, and marble accents. A central stone bar with upholstered stools anchors the tiny space, serving as a pick-up spot for food and coffee or for lingering. High-top stone counters double as communal tables. The bathroom's custom wallpaper adds a clever touch with illustrations of the “five B’s” that are served at Daily Provisions: Bread, Booze, Bird (rotisserie chicken and eggs), Beans (coffee), and Breakfast.
